How do I find out if my landlord has ever been brought to court for landlord tenant rights as in small claims?
Q. I would like to know if my landlord has ever been taken to court and sued by a tenant for lack of repairs to our apartment we live in. We are with out ceiling heat and our using a floor heater and have smoke alarm and black mold growing on our ceiling in the bathroom from the apartment upstairs. The physical address is 1628 Davis Avenue Vancouver Washington 98661 the lnadlord is Jackie and Marwan. I need help. Where or who do I contact to find out.

A. Go to the housing court in your area and then head to the records room all L&T case records are accessible to the public. If this is an issue for you, try you local legal aide office, normally located in the housing court as well..Good luck with that...Also I would call the local authorities...like here in New York we have the 311 line to report the atrocities you are currently living under. Jackie and Marwan sound like slum lords. Oh yeah you can also take them to court for repairs..But make sure you keep paying your rent...lack of repairs doesn't mean you don't pay rent...that is grounds for an eviction...which by your discription would be a step up...and outta there!

What are my rights as a tenant during mold remediation? I'm refusing to live in my apt during deconstruction..
Q. I'm being let out of my lease (no written notice req, cleaning fees waived) and offered a transfer to a vacant apartment. However, I am not able to park at/near proffered apartment so this is very inconvenient. They stated that they would prefer if we moved out so they could fix the mold/water leaks. Over the last 2 years, I notified the maintenance team in writing about leaks from the roof when it rained. Three times they painted the wall to cover the water stain and ignored the roof. Now I have mold growing through the sheetrock and feel forced to leave because we have asthma and/or allergies. They refused ("it's not our policy") to place mold monitors in our apt to detect spore growth and air quality during the construction/remediation.… [cont.]

A. you can put your money in escrow threw the court system i hope you have renters ins your belongings now have mold spores in them on them ,bed,clothes,etc...they should be held responsible for on going problems caused by their neglect so what I'm saying is get a lawyer...

What are my tenant rights and my landlord's responsibilities??
Q. There is a leak on the ceiling of my bathroom right above the bathtub. When the tenants upstairs run their water the ceiling bulges and drips. I called my landlord on Monday night when I heard it dripping and I waited up for the maintenance guy but he never showed. It is now Wednesday afternoon and nothing has been done about it. I have called to remind her a couple times and she says she'll have the maintenance guy fix it. I cannot take a shower or give my daughter a bath because I don't feel like having a ceiling fall on us... Is there a time-frame that they have to fix this? Do I have any rights? I cannot shower!! I took my last shower on Monday morning and I am guessing that it still won't be fixed tonight or by morning. And whenever… [cont.]

A. I had a similar problem and I witheld my rent until it was fixed. I dont thing I was allowed to do this but I told her that as I wasnt getting full use of my home then she wasnt getting full rent. It worked and the workmen came round that night.
