The term is generally applied to behaviour within civil governments, but politics has been observed in all human group interactions, including corporate, academic, and religious institutions. It consists of "social relations involving authority or power" and refers to the regulation of a political unit, and to the methods and tactics used to formulate and apply policy. "Politics" ultimately comes from the Greek word "polis" meaning state or city. "Politikos" describes anything concerning the state or city affairs. In Latin, this was "politicus" and in French "politique". Thus it became "politics" in Middle English ( see the Concise Oxford Dictionary). There is no academic consensus on the exact definition of "Politics" and what counts as political and what does not. Max Weber defined politics as the struggle for power. As an academic disciplinePolitical science, the study of politics, examines the acquisition and application of power. Related areas of study include political philosophy, which seeks a rationale for politics and an ethic of public behaviour, political economy, which attempts to develop understandings of the relationships between politics and the economy and the governance of the two, and public administration, which examines the practices of governance. Q. If not what a political party that does? What is a political party that supports modern moral and political philosophies? Any ideas greatly appreciated. Asked by Tina - Sun Sep 16 23:42:21 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. Not sure of the specifics, but Libertarianism is an abstract politcal concept, not an actual party or party line. You could describe a party as Libertarian, however. A Libertarian party would hold the common belief that an individual should be as free to run their own life as possible. Obviously in modern times you dont get pure Libertarian parties because in essence they support the idea that we do not need political parties to be governed. Assuming you are in the UK, you might want to look at the Liberal Democrats, who have historically been more Libertarian, as their name suggests. Arguably, all parties hold modern moral and political philosophies. The Conservatives have traditionally been the least progressive party, however, as the… [cont.] Answered by nickmuddle - Sun Sep 16 23:58:45 2007 What are some political issues involving airplanes?
Q. What are some political issues involving airplanes? Asked by AYALEWNATOR - Fri Mar 21 15:46:31 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. One of the big ones facing General Aviation users in the US in the past year has been structural reorganization of the FAA with the inclusion of users fees to support the changes. The way the proposals were written, users of General Aviation would have to pay fees for things like IFR flight plans, radar advisories, ILS approaches, weather briefings and just about anything else that involved anything to do with Air Traffic Control plus a few other things. The bulk of these proposals were brought forth from the airline industry in an effort to remove some of the fees that they pay and put them onto the backs of private pilots and corporate aviation even though the airlines use the bulk of ATC services. The issue is in a state of limbo at the… [cont.] Answered by XP Pilot - Fri Mar 21 19:03:13 2008 From Yahoo Answer Search: "political" |
